IMPACTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Manning Early Childhood Center’s ABL Lab is already showing positive results in student behavior and learning. Mrs. Oswald reports cases where students overcame challenges such as learning to spell their names or recognizing sight words through active, movement-based learning activities. These sessions not only improved academic skills but also helped students become calmer, more confident, and better engaged in class.

Case Study
Manning Early Childhood Center has made significant strides overthe years to cultivate a thriving wellness culture that encompasses students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community through their participation in the MUSC BCCW School-Based Wellness Initiative. Their participation in the Initiative led to the desire to establish an ABL Lab. ABL is based on neurologicalresearch that supports academic learning through intentional movement. Research shows that students who participate in ABL have better memory retention, increased focus and attention, improved academic progress, and reduced behavioral challenges.
