Ada City Schools took a significant step in enhancing the educational experience by incorporating Action-Based Learning (ABL) into their professional development programming. This innovative approach, introduced through the district’s Project AWARE initiative, emphasizes the powerful connection between movement and learning, equipping educators with strategies to improve student engagement and academic outcomes.

Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education) has been a driving force in the district’s mission to support the mental health and wellness of students and staff. Recognizing the importance of an active and engaging learning environment, AWARE partnered with experts in Action-Based Learning to provide a hands-on professional development workshop for district educators.

The training focused on integrating physical activity into classroom instruction to stimulate brain activity, enhance focus, and boost overall academic performance. Educators explored practical strategies to incorporate movement into lessons, making learning more interactive and effective for students of all ages.

“We are thrilled to bring Action-Based Learning to our district,” Mike Anderson, Superintendent of Ada City Schools said. “This aligns perfectly with our commitment to innovation and wellness in education. By training our educators to implement these techniques, we’re fostering a culture where students can thrive academically, socially, and mentally.”

The addition of Action-Based Learning to Ada City Schools’ professional development is a testament to the district’s dedication to holistic education. By prioritizing initiatives like Project AWARE and ABL, the district continues to empower its staff and students with tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
